EU and U.S. Demand Drive Strong Growth in Hunan’s Fireworks Industry
On July 24, Changsha Customs reported that in the first half of the year, Hunan Province exported fireworks and firecrackers worth 2.46 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 26.5%, accounting for 59.3% of total China fireworks exports.
Among them, Liuyang City—widely recognized as the fireworks capital of China—led the province with 2.28 billion CNY in exports, up 25.1%, and representing 92.7% of the provincial total. Meanwhile, Zhuzhou City exported 180 million CNY, up 46.9%, accounting for 7.2%.
The United States remains the largest export market, while exports to the European Union have seen notable growth. During the first half of the year, Hunan exported 900 million CNY worth of fireworks to the U.S., representing 36.5% of its total exports. At the same time, exports to the EU surged by 110.7%, reaching 830 million CNY, or 33.6% of the total. Other key markets include ASEAN countries with 160 million CNY and Africa with 38.31 million CNY.
According to officials from Changsha Customs, the growth in Hunan’s fireworks exports is largely driven by steady demand from traditional markets. Cultural traditions and consumer preferences in countries like the United States, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, and Lebanon continue to support strong sales of China fireworks, fueling both export volume and value.
One standout trend is the rapid expansion in the European market. In the first six months of the year, Hunan’s fireworks exports to Europe totaled 970 million CNY, marking an impressive 108.3% increase. Notably, exports to Germany rose by 153.4%, to Poland by 163.9%, to the Netherlands by 191.8%, to the United Kingdom by 137.5%, to Italy by 4.3%, and to the Czech Republic by a staggering 464%.
